December 24, 2007, 11:55 a.m. – Christmas Eve
Ahh, Christmas my favorite holiday of the year, a seemingly good day to start this blog but this particular Christmas is one I would have wanted to forget. I had a misunderstanding with my ex a days before Christmas eve and there was no reconciliation in sight which eventually led to the end of our relationship (good timing, huh?). This is also the reason why the first message on my inbox fell on this day because in a fit of anger (madness?) and frustration (desperation?) I deleted all messages prior to this date to “forget” everything that happened, a costly mistake since I also inadvertedly deleted memorable messages meant to be stored for eternity or until my phone gets stolen again.
I did receive lots of standard Christmas greeting from my friends. I guess this would be a good way to introduce my core group of friends as well as friends from my pro-gaming life. (yes, computer games is my hobby, a fact a few people outside my circle knows). My core group of friends is composed of college friends back in UST. We have known each other since 2007 and remained a solid group to this day. Because of privacy issues I will not use their actual names in the blog.
First to text was “Boy Plano”, a fellow brother-in-arms during our law school days in UE. I received also a greeting from “Boy Plano’s girlfriend, Beehlyn, she is now his wife but more of that later. Abogwapo, the first attorney of our group and his girlfriend Cute-orney, also a lawyer also sent their messages. Geist, my silent partner and confidant in “gray areas” in law. Sydman the token “gay” character in our sitcom. He’s not really gay but he fits the description well (that’s for all the crap I had to put up in your blog you nincompoop!). Finally, Beneboy and Alli the latest additions to our group. They are a friends of mine in UE law. I also received a message from my oldest active friend, Iris, the keeper of my secrets and the one you need to bribe to get to it.
As for my pro-gamer buddies we use “handles” or codenames in games which we also usually call each other in real life (a source of amusement or confused looks from third persons). Names such as Selphie, Dulay, Papapower, Hotstuffroi and 1c3m@n litter my inbox.
As I said, this particular Christmas ranks as the worst in my collective memory due to the surrounding circumstances but it was somehow mitigated by the presence of good friends who share the same interest with good alcohol.
That’s it for now, a thick folder with a giant “RUSH” stamped on the cover just landed on my desk. Story of my life.
